about

Originally released as track 3 of 4 on the "Feral" CDEP in 2007.

This was my one attempt to write a song for a girl, but I was so self-absorbed that it's... not about the girl at all.
The lyric about "yellow limbs" is a reference to my going out to "hang out with friends" and coming home, clearly having used heroin.

lyrics

i woke up today feeling mean
it's strange how a bad dream
can root me up and make obsolete
all that's happened since i was sixteen
folded up into my seat claire reaches in to play
music to cover the sound of crossing the skyway
i never felt so sick in my life
as i did riding home that night
i couldn't look in the backseat
without it sweeping over me
but i don't care about any of that anyway
i'm not going to let some shit from five years ago
ruin my day
forgive this jumbled mess
what i'm trying to say
is that sitting now in this room with you
everything seems okay
i take you for granted there are plenty of times
when i'm less than excited about being alive
but please don't ever be fooled
into thinking that's anything to do with you
i argued with cops and got you tickets
i go out and come home with yellow limbs
i'm just an idiot who doesn't know how to act right
i'm an overdramatic addict who can't see the bright side
forgive this jumbled mess
