about

Originally released as track 1 of 4 on the "Dangerous Intersections V" 7-inch (which also featured The Lengendary San Diego Chargers, Shang-a-Lang, and Andrew Jackson Jihad) in 2009.

The title refers to the text on hypodermic syringes, "use once an destroy," and the fact that I do shit that I shouldn't be doing OVER AND OVER. Whether it's re-using syringes or destroying friendships and relationships. In 2008, I was still afraid to write about heroin in such a way as to explicitly acknowledge that I was shooting up. There are references to it in the lyrics to "Sleeping" and "Seatbelt" as well though.

lyrics

tried to go out and have some fun, but ten minutes in, and i'm pulling off the road
withdraw the keys from the ignition, leave my car and my friends sitting there, and walk two hours home
now my phone won’t stop ringing and i’m hanging it up every time
to spite myself, i’ll sit in this dark house alone with my gas station wine

rocks through windows in my head
why am i so hell bent on losing all of my friends?
everyone knows I don’t get it, I’m so miserable, pathetic
I should probably just go to bed

the sickness of regret keeps me from sleep
on this torture rack I toss and turn
counting on tomorrow to be a clean slate
I’m starting to notice a pattern emerge
